Assistant General Management(couple or single) 5 star World Class Very Luxurious Lodge Tanzania

We are now in search for an Assistant General Management couple or single individual to join this 5 star world class very luxurious flagship lodge in Tanzania

This is one of our flagship properties in East Africa.
The ideal candidate/s should be innovative people, who are driven by team work, positive solution focused and development of people. Energetic, charisma, with a passion for hospitality. Ideally we are looking for candidates with a strong knowledge of international hospitality standards and best practice.
Furthermore they should be strong in working in a multi-cultural environment, and enjoy staff motivation and development. As it is a big lodge, based in Tanzania, a good knowledge of maintenance is important. Conservation and sustainable development are a core element to the lodge and the ethos of the business. The ideal candidate/s would have a passion and interest in this area of work.


Support General Manager in overall responsibility for the effect management and running of the lodge. To ensure the lodge and brand are taken to the next level of service standards.
Overall Day to Day Management Of the Lodge, including North Camp, South Camp, Tree Camp and all the back of house departments.
Support General Manager in budget creation, management and control
Work directly with head of housekeeping, butlers, camp managers and General Manager to ensure company Lodge and Service standards are maintained at all times and ensure costs and budgets are managed and not exceeded.
Assist in placing and monitoring of all lodge operational stock orders
Assist with strategic relationships with the National Parks Authorities, Agents, Staff, Unions, Neighbors & Communities
Assist General Manager in creating an environment where the company Golden Thread is continuously met and visible throughout the daily functioning of the lodge
Assist in working with Regional Fleet & R&M Managers on developing and implementing projects in conjunction with the company’s Health & Safety standards.
Ensure implementation and project management of lodge annual strategy


Overall responsibility for implementing service and hospitality training plan at lodge, including
Butler training
Housekeeping training
Any other service and hospitality training as needed
Oversee and develop guest delight activities
Work with General Manager and Executive chef to ensure menu and food are aligned to lodge quality standards and food budgets are being met and monitored
Daily meeting with Heads of Department to discuss the daily plan, including arrivals, departures, maintenance, food, special requests, bush banqueting
Hosting all guests Agents and Media, large events (groups, weddings, wine cellar)
Assist with daily guest information and requirement to ensure an extraordinary guest experience and help creating daily guest delights.


Work with General Manager in driving community development projects in conjunction with the Africa Foundation
Work with Sustainability Manager on developing and implementing projects in conjunction with the company’s sustainability & Conservation strategy.
Get involved and assist with company life activities, Staff delights, motivation


At least 3 years Management Experience in a 5 star operation
Hospitality and Service Training Experience and qualifications
Wine & Food experience an advantage
Experience in the service industry especially in dealing with guests and staff


Energetic, proactive person with well-developed concept of the importance of providing a world-class guest experience and the ability to provide that experience.
Aware, evolved, energetic, compassionate, respectable and strong leadership skills.
Open minded and able to think outside of the box
The ability to motivate and inspire yourself and others.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
Eager to learn and develop management and leadership skills to find progression in the succession planning of lodge.
Attention to detail
Diligence and self-motivation to meet deadlines
Willingness/ability to share information and teach and inspire others
Good Computer and financial skills
IT experience beneficial
Understanding and knowledge of the Tanzanian culture


International qualification in, Business Management, Hospitality Management, Wine or Food an advantage


Excellent hospitality experience, preferably an international qualification, someone to drive guest experience, food and wine product.
Charismatic, enjoy problem solving, positive outlook, patient – not scared of a challenge
Staff development focused
Have an enjoyment and understanding of maintenance, sustainability, community

The successful candidate should have an enquiring mind, be methodical, pay attention to detail, be creative, show perseverance and patience, ability to work under pressure, ability to accept routine and mundane tasks, have high energy level, be flexible, have the ability to overcome obstacles and persist with the task at hand, be decisive and adaptable.
