General Manager Extremely Luxurious Tented Camp Tanzania

We are now in search of a General Manager for a 5 star luxurious tented camp in the Serengeti. The camp is a luxurious semi-permanent tented camp that moves around the Serengeti bringing guests within range of the massive herds of the Great Migration.

KEY OUTPUTS:

Overall management for tented camp, including operations, guest experience, R&M, kitchen, financial and staff management and development
Direct line management responsibility for the camp senior management team and indirectly for a team of staff
Budget and forecast creation, management and control in conjunction with the Lodge Administrator and the Regional Finance Manager. Management of the lodge CAPEX programs
Human resource management and staff development
Infrastructure – development and maintenance of all infrastructure
IT – maintenance IT
Security – security, emergency response and fire control
Healthcare – reviewing healthcare facilities and evacuation arrangements
Environmental health – waste, sanitation, mosquito and pest control
Logistics – camp moving, set up and take down
Government – liaison with local, regional and national Government and relevant stakeholders in conjunction with the Regional Manager. Compliance with local licensing, permits etc.
Conservation – working with the Africa Foundation in conservation and community projects and partnerships arrangements
Sustainability – responsible for ensuring sustainability targets are met and improved upon year on year
Risk Assessment – ensure lodge is risk assessment compliant
Lodge Marketing – management of the lodge social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, etc. Ensure regular stories to the company team are distributed and that the camp maintains a strong presence in internal comms (Bateleur Mag, etc)
Must be willing to travel to and from the various camps

HOSPITALITY

Build upon the existing guest experience to create new ideas and to ensure the product remains fresh and modern, whilst staying true to the history of the area – this includes guest delights, accommodation, food, staff, activities
Building relationships with new and repeat guests
Maintaining and reinforcing an environment where the company Golden Thread and Brand Standards are continuously met and visible throughout the daily functioning of the property.
Ensure lodge to do lists are actioned and completed (within budget)
Maximise efficiencies in procurement

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

At least 3 – 5 years Management Experience in a 5-star boutique operation
Mobile Camp management experience an advantage
Hospitality and Service Training Experience

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Energetic, proactive person with well-developed concept of the importance of providing a world-class guest experience, and the ability to provide that experience
Passionate about sustainable tourism and conservation
Driven, energetic, compassionate and ambitious, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Unrelenting attention to detail and high standards
Structured manager with experience of leading diverse teams
Practical with some experience of maintenance
Experience in mobile camping and safaris advantageous
Open minded and able to think outside of the box
The ability to motivate and inspire yourself and others
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
Competent financial and IT skills
Fluent in English essential

The role will be based at Serengeti
Starting date – August 2016
Salary and benefits – 2500 to 3000 USD gross monthly – negotiable / expat benefits: 1000 USD travel and 1000 USD medical (Medical and travel allowance as per company policy)

Summary of role:
The Island Manager is responsible for all aspects of The Island. Maintenance (must have maintenance experience ) Housekeeping and Food and Beverage to ensure that all aspects of daily operations are supervised and properly executed in accordance with Island and House standards.

Summary of Duties Include (not limited to);
The management of the staff
Appointment and administration of all Island staff.
Providing leadership support to senior staff members and supervising their daily activities.
Continuous training, monitoring and improvement of the standards throughout the departments.
Management of the overall staff welfare and development
The management and development of the business
The management of all areas according to the defined service standards
Setting up and maintaining operational standards and procedures
Systems and budgetary control
The management and development of the financial systems and controls in all areas.
Implementation and management of the annual operational and capital expenditure budgets
Management of the monthly operations budget
Taking responsibility for fixed and operational assets allocated for all areas.
Management of ordering, storing, issuing and controlling of all relevant stocks on the Island.
Management of orders within the budgets and systems developed for the Island.

General Management Couple Very Modern Extremely Luxurious Private Home Kenya

We are looking for an outstanding couple or two individuals who have senior management experience in a Boutique Safari Lodge, Boutique Hotel or large Private Home preferably part of which has been in Africa. This is a fantastic opportunity to run one of Kenya’s most beautiful Private Lodge Homes set in Laikipia.

They should very organised and methodical, be hands on and general all-rounders which will enable them to manage and mentor the staff and provide cover for any role to ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the property. Swahili speakers would be an advantage.

List of Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Management: Currently this is a couple.

All aspects of the private home Marketing and Reservations:

Responding to booking queries
Correspondence with Booking Agents or clients
Co-ordination of Travel details/ Itineraries
Billing with the assistance of London Head Office.
Kenyan marketing and promotion of the private house, through liaison with booking agents, Safari companies and high end travel companies and consultancies.
Manage, organise and oversee daily operations of the property.
Manage, lead, motivate and on-going training of 35 permanent staff and additional casual staff.
Daily management of the Maintenance Team ensuring highest standards at the property and efficient daily operation of machinery and equipment, including pool and gym.
Daily management of the Landscaping Team, undertaking continual improvement to and maintenance of the gardens and grounds within the 100 acre perimeter.
Daily management of the Kitchen Production team as well as creating all menus and dietary requirements for all Guests, maintaining the highest culinary experience and hygiene.
Daily management of the Security Team and security processes and any necessary liaison with the Conservancy/Estate Security Team.
Daily management of the Housekeeping Team ensuring the highest standard of interiors and guest services, including laundry.
Daily management of the Food and Beverage Service Team ensuring highest standards of service and guest experience.
Daily logistics and management of the Guest Experience, including guest logistics, daily activities, concierge requirements, guest enjoyment and attention to detail at all times.
Oversee and manage the IT systems and equipment, including Wifi/Internet, Sonos and the Cinema.
Oversee and manage all external Contractors as well as supervision of additional Projects
‘Month End’ Reporting to London Head Office and Board of Directors.
Checking, authorisation and submission of orders, payments, inventories, and cash controls.
Maintenance and updating of the Property Asset Register.
Routine and random inventory and stock checks and controls across all areas of the operation.
Staff disciplinary action and liaison with Department of Labour.

Human Resources:
Staff Off and Leave Schedules
Staff Team building and events
Staff issues
Compilation of Staff payroll details in collaboration with internal Admin Office.
Community relations and CSR projects coordination.
Management, stocking and sales in the private home studio.
Co-ordination of imported shipments including the owners’ personal items, assets and fine and house wines.
Liaise with and assist as required the Equestrian manager for the private home riding and stud.
Applicants must have worked in a private home or 5* boutique hotel. Due to the expected high number of applicants, only those that meet the requirements and have the relevant experience will be considered for the position.
